Restore ribbon controls to record forms

An open record form that does not display contextual commands on the ribbon (such as Save and Save & Close) is in read-optimized format. Read-optimized forms open rapidly for quick viewing, and they prevent accidental editing.

To restore ribbon commands to read-optimized record forms, select the read-optimized records in the list and then click Edit in the upper-left corner of the list. The records will open with contextual ribbon commands.

Note

A record form that contains content generated by a custom script will always open in editable format, regardless of the system default or personal options.

If you want, you may be able to set the editable version of record forms as your default view. In the Navigation pane, click File, click Options, and then click the General tab. If you see a section titled Default Mode for viewing forms, you can select Edit as your personal default for viewing all forms. If you don't see this option, you may ask your system administrator to select this option for you.
