Add or remove a currency

Can I do this task?

  1. In the Navigation Pane, click Settings, click Business Management, and then click Currencies.
  2. On the Actions toolbar, click New.
  3. Click the Lookup button Lookup button next to the Currency Code box, and then select the name of the currency that you want to add.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM automatically fills in the Currency Name and Currency Symbol boxes based on the currency you selected.

  4. In the Currency Precision box, type the number of decimal places you want to display for this currency.
  5. You can type a different name in the Currency Name box, if desired.
  6. You can enter a different symbol in the Currency Symbol box, if desired.
  7. Under Currency Conversion, in the Exchange Rate box, type the rate of exchange between your base currency and the new currency you are adding.
  8. Click Save or Save and Close.

To deactivate or activate a currency, on the Actions toolbar, click More Actions, and then click Deactivate or Activate. Deactivated currency records are kept, but cannot be assigned to other records.

Important

The base currency cannot be deleted.

Note

Currencies that are in use by other records cannot be deleted, only deactivated.

Deactivating currency records does not remove the currency information stored in existing records, such as opportunities or orders. The original currency information stays in those records, but the currency cannot be selected for new transactions.

To add a custom currency, after Step 2 in the preceding instructions, click to select Custom. Type the currency code, name, precision, and symbol for the custom currency, and then proceed to Step 7.
