Export a user or a system chart

Can I do this task?

You cannot create complex visualizations such as multi-series charts or comparison charts by using the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web application. To create complex charts, export the chart, edit the chart definition file, and then import it back into Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

1. On the main page of the list of records, click the chart bar on the right or top of the list of records.
2. Click the arrow next to the chart name, and then in the list, click the name of the chart that you want to export.
3. On the Charts tab, in the Charts group, click Export Chart.
4. To open the exported chart definition file, click Open.

   To save the file, click Save.

5. To import a chart back to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, on the Charts tab, in the Charts group, click Import Chart and import the file that you exported.

   When you import a chart definition file, Microsoft Dynamics CRM checks the definition file for the chart ID and name, and the name of the definition file in the following sequence:

   1. Compares the ID in the chart definition to the IDs of existing charts in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
   2. If an ID is not specified in the chart definition file, compares the name in the chart definition with the names of charts in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
   3. If both ID and name are not specified in the definition file, compares the chart definition file name with the names of charts in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

   When a chart matching any of these criteria is found in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Dynamics CRM lets you either replace the existing chart with the chart you are importing or save the chart definition file with a new name.

   If two or more charts exist with the same name, you must save the chart definition file with a new name.
