Edit a Default Report or create a SQL-based Reporting Services report

Can I do this task?

The default reports in Microsoft Dynamics CRM are all SQL-based Reporting Services reports. Default reports cannot be edited with the Report Wizard. To edit the default reports other than ones created by using the Report Wizard, you need a report development environment. For more information, see How to set up a report development environment.

  1. Identify the existing report that is closest in design to your new report.
  2. Download the report from Microsoft Dynamics CRM to a computer that is set up with the report development environment. For more information, see Download a report from Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  3. In a product using the Visual Studio integrated development environment (IDE), open the report, and make the required changes.

If you are making major changes, first read Reporting Using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (Microsoft Dynamics CRM SDK).

  4. Add the updated report to Microsoft Dynamics CRM. For more information, see Add the report to Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

To share the updated report, see the instructions in Share your report with other users.
