Set form mode, start page, and view options

Can I do this task?

These options determine how Microsoft Dynamics CRM displays information. Not all settings on this tab are available in Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook.

  1. Click the File tab, and then click Options.

    - OR -

In Outlook, on the CRM menu, click Options.

  2. In the Set Personal Options dialog box, on the General tab, you can set any of the following options:
    • Select activity forms used by Microsoft CRM client for Outlook

If you are using Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook, select the forms that you want to use to create activities.

    • Default Pane

The first pane you see when you open Microsoft Dynamics CRM. This option is not available in Outlook.

    • Default Tab

The first tab you see when you open Microsoft Dynamics CRM. This option is not available in Outlook.

    • Records Per Page

Select the number of records you want to display in a list. Selecting fewer records can help the performance of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

    • Default mode for viewing record forms

Select the default mode for viewing records:

      • Organization default. Records may be either Read-Optimized or Edit. The value is set by your system administrator.
      • Read-Optimized. Read-optimized records open rapidly for quick viewing and prevent accidental edits. The record form does not display the ribbon, content created by custom scripts, or web resources.
      • Edit. Editable records offer rich, context-sensitive editing options on the form ribbon, content created by custom scripts, and web resources. A record form that contains content generated by a custom script will always open in editable format, regardless of the system default or personal options.
    • Advanced Find Mode

Select the display mode for Advanced Find. This also affects Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook data groups. The Simple mode only lets you change the values. The Detailed mode displays the Filter toolbar and lets you add additional criteria.

    • Time Zone

This option is not available in Outlook.

If you use the Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook, please set Microsoft Dynamics CRM to the same time zone to help prevent mismatched times and dates.

    • Currency

Click the Lookup button Lookup button to select a currency.

    • Enable high contrast

To improve the display of buttons and icons for accessibility, select this check box, and turn on High Contrast settings in either your browser or operating system.

    • View your user information

This option is not available in Outlook.

    • Always run the Microsoft Dynamics CRM application hoster process

Select this check box if you want Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook to run continuously in the background, even if Outlook is not running. This will improve how quickly pages are displayed. This option is not available in the Web application.

  3. To save your changes and close the dialog box, click OK.
