Import Data Wizard - Map Fields

This page displays progress as the wizard uses the selected data map to map columns in your source files to the fields in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. For the columns that are not mapped, the wizard provides the following options:

This page appears when:

By default, the left pane shows a list of Microsoft Dynamics CRM record types. These record types are the source files that you mapped in the Map Record Types page.

Each record type is marked either with a green check mark or an alert symbol. The green check mark means all the fields for the record type are mapped. The alert symbol means there is at least one column for the record type that could not be mapped.

When you click any record type, the right pane shows a list of required and optional fields for the record type.

Note

If you selected a data map to map your data, the Import Data Wizard selects a Microsoft Dynamics CRM field as a possible match for each column in the source file. This is based on the mapping definitions in the selected data map. For the Import Data Wizard to automatically map the files, the column name in the source file and the display name of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM field to which you want to import the data must match exactly.

For the columns that could not be mapped to the fields in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, the CRM Fields column shows a list of available fields to which you can map the source column. Additionally, you can choose to create a new field in Microsoft Dynamics CRM or skip importing data from the source column.

Important

If a source column is mapped to multiple fields in Microsoft Dynamics CRM or if the fields are mapped through transformation mapping, the fields show Internally Mapped. You cannot change the mappings for these columns. The target fields that are used in the transformation mapping or multiple mapping are not in the list to prevent you from mapping those fields with other source columns.

Map Fields

  1. For each record type in the left pane that has an alert symbol, click the record type name. Then, in the right pane:
    1. Map Microsoft Dynamics CRM required fields to source columns
    2. Map source column to optional fields
  2. Click Next when you have mapped each column from the source file to a Microsoft Dynamics CRM field or have have clicked Ignore in its list under CRM Fields.
